It all began with three guys in Bloomington, Indiana. We lived together. Hung out together. Went to school together. And one day, we learned that when you shower with most traditional soap, you’re actually slathering industrially processed animal fat all over your body. As Muslims, we are deeply invested in the morality of our actions, and as vegans, we don’t eat meat and hated the idea of “cleaning” our bodies with animal fat.
That’s why we created our company, The Mad Optimist, a radically different soap and body care company. Our products are totally customizable, because we discovered a proprietary method that allows soap to cure in just 24 hours rather than the typical 30 days. Not only that, everything we make is vegan, halal, cruelty-free, non-GMO, and gluten-free.
And we knew that if we’re going to start a business we wanted to do it in a way that was beholden to our own personal values. We had a vision for a radical new movement centered around community, kindness, transparency and equality. We also got to talking about building a business—one that puts people and the planet first, instead of profits. Sounds crazy, right?
Well, we’re doing it—and all-natural bodycare is the backbone of it all.
From soaps to soaks, we’re making products that are meant to love. And we’re having an awesome time doing it.
Call us crazy, but doing things a better way just isn’t that hard. We want others to do the same. And we’re eternally optimistic that our good vibes will rub off on everyone.
